Thomas E. Johnson
Thomas E. Johnson joined Monahan & Johnson, S.C. (formerly Elliot, Monahan & Associates, S.C.) in January of 2008. Before joining the Firm, Tom operated Johnson Law Office as a sole practitioner in Janesville, Wisconsin. Prior to that, he worked at a general practice firm in Oshkosh, Wisconsin for several years. He is a life-long resident of Wisconsin. Tom attended law school at the University of Dayton-School of Law, Dayton, Ohio, where he graduated with honors in 1997. His practice is concentrated in the areas of estate planning, real estate, business law, personal injury, bankruptcy, family law and criminal law. He is a member of the Wisconsin State Bar, the Rock County Bar Association, the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and is admitted to the Eastern and Western District Federal Courts in Wisconsin.
Currently, Tom is active in his local church, volunteering on various committees and with programs such as teaching Sunday school. Tom is active in his community with local youth as a coach for soccer and basketball teams. He has also previously served on the Board of Directors for Retrouvaille (an organization that helps those with troubled marriages), Habitat for Humanity and Reach Counseling (an organization that provides counseling services for victims of sexual abuse).
Mr. Johnson’s philosophy is to prepare each case as if it is going to trial. Obviously there is a time for negotiation to try and achieve a reasonable result for the client. However, the attorney for the other side needs to know that you are not afraid to try a case. Last, Tom has a unique perspective of the issues facing business clients in today’s challenging market. As the former owner of Diamond Dave’s restaurant in Janesville for over 10 years and the owner of a marina, Tom understands what it takes to run a business. Tom lives in Milton, Wisconsin, with his three daughters.
